Relic Hunting
Decided to finally make a post of my better finds of 2017. Had a good year with some interesting relics from the period that span from 4000 B.C. to the Rev War. Coinwise, the year wasn't even nearly as productive as 2016 (as I had a phenomenal year with 3 pre-1720 French, 9 Spanish and 3 British silver coins) but I compensated with some amazing Rev War, Fur Trade and Copper culture relics.

My 2017 season started on a hunt in Europe where I managed to get some interesting finds with 3 personal bucket listers (Roman coin, early jewelry and Napoleon Bonaparte silver coin).

Getting back to North America in April managed to secure a few new permissions and did an extensive research on the old ones. The results were very interesting as I have managed to find some very nice finds from the Prehistoric to the early and late colonial period. My oldest find so far was discovered this season and I doubt that I'll be able to break that record.

6000-4000 years old Native American Copper Culture spear/harpoon point. (My first Banner find :laughing7:)

A few Native stone tools (I'll just mention this one as it's my favorite this year)

Got a few nice surprises from the Fur trade period. Two similar Fede or Claddagh rings. Fur Trade axes and weapon parts.

Copper and silver Fur Trade Fede rings.

Even though my year wasn't very productive with early silver I still managed a few. With one being on my bucket list.

Spanish early 1700's 2 Reales cob. Lima.Peru.

I have to mention that this year was successful with all types of military colonial buttons and I have found by far my best ones in 2017
Here's a few.

A rare early Revolutionary War 20th Regiment of foot British enlisted men button.

An other Revolutionary War 20th of different design. My favorite and best preserved Rev War button.

A rare early Rev War 67th of foot. Not in as good of a condition but a unique find I believe.

A few other buttons worth mentioning.

So far this is the only example of an ''I axe my way'' American Patriotic button mentioned by Albert in his book. Sadly, I still can't find any additional information on it but one thing is for sure, this button is extremely rare.

An other find that's worth some additional research is this colonial silver hearts and crown cuff link. Found it on a hunt with Ken ''Z.K.'' on his visit to Canada.

A few other colonial finds. Buckles, buttons and relics.

Only included a small portion of my finds in this post. Very happy with the 2017 results.

Wishing everyone a Happy and successful 2018 with amazing bucket lister finds.

P.S. With a help from a friend who's an amateur jeweler made myself a nice gift for the Christmas. A copy of one of my 2 Real coins made of a solid gold. Can't wait to be able to wear it on my neck.

You have had a HUGELY successful year in my mind. Tiny place BTW. I originally began my metal detecting journey for recovering silver coins. Things have changed for me and now I try to locate the oldest relics and coins my area has to offer. So many of the finds you recovered this year here and abroad are exactly the types of recoveries I hope to find. Excellent top shelf relics and coins mate. Much to be proud of. Even your old rusty iron ROCKS! Love the gold Real Coin. Was that made from recovered gold by chance? You are a treasure hunter after my own heart so to speak. Congratulations on a very successful season mate!:icon_salut:

Thank you Kurios1. I did put some gold that I found this year (24k pendant). The rest is from some unwanted gold scrap I had.

A great year to say the least! wow!

Mouthwatering finds indeed!!!!

Thanks Steve. Every one of those buttons left me speechless when I discovered them. Will be hard to find anything in as good of a condition in 2018 but I'll do my best.
