the indigenous here in CR melted placer gold in clay vessels using wood/charcoal and a blow pipe
(prior to decanting into a lost wax clay mold)
has anyone here tried to melt gold in this manner ? (using wood or charcoal)

I have used wood and a hand blower to forge steel but the temps for that are much lower;
and I have seen reference to a 3 blow pipe setup but don't know what that might imply in terms of temperature (or for what it was used).
I do know that here specific woods are used for forging (resinous and most dense = high energy), all exotic lol

anyone ?

tried to include a pic of a 1 gm cupelled indigenous piece but my phone camera is not up to it

1,943 degrees will take a lot of blowing

Alcapulco gold....doesn’t take 1900 degrees either:laughing7:
