Hit a spot I've hammered for the past year yesterday. I was wanting to do another spot, but its been so dry around here the last few weeks that as soon as I cut a plug I seen dry powdery dirt under it. Found the 1936 Buff there. Alright, that will wait for another day. The nearby spot I hit is a hillside with no grass. Junky area, but I've pulled about 20 silvers plus Indians, wheats, V-nickles, Buffs, a two center and a half dime out of there. There is rarely a clear signal here anymore, you dig every non-iron signal (and some of them) and see what turns up. Pulled a 1920 and a no date Buff, a 1926 Merc that rand up in the mid 70's even though it was only about 4 inches down, and didn't appear to be anything else interfering with the signal. The little sword was a neat find, a gold plated button, couple of junk rings, and the little stag head thingie. Moved to a adjacent area and pulled out the wheats, including a 1909. My last good find before it started pouring rain was a 1897 V Nickle. Went and ate and came back after the rain. Went to a different area but all I found was junk. Was out for about 9 hours and probably hunted better than 7 of them. I've probably dug about 5 gallons of trash out of here in the last year and it keeps the site giving a little more each time. Pictures didn't turn out great, but nothing spectacular anyway.

Nice finds! Thanks for sharing...

sweet finds, I like that little sword!

Hello david680. Impressive finds you got there. Seven hours is a lot of holes especially in a junk ridden area but persistence (and site selection) is the key to this hobby. Thanks for the post. C9

I would call that a great day. Some many neat finds. I like the sword and stag.

Good stuff, I don't know why but I love finding the older jewelry with character, like those rings. May not be worth much but they have more character and craftsmanship than a lot of today's stuff.

Nice variety there, can the sword charm be cleaned up any or is it cheap pot metal ? Congrats on the fun site :occasion14:

That's a lot of digging but, it paid off with some really cool finds. Really like that sword.

Congrats!!

Cheap pot metal, pretty much as good as it will ever look.

7 hours well spent David. Next time may surprise you with a gold ring if you keep digging the buff signals and clearing the trash out. Good luck to you.

Haha, nice sword :tongue3:

Those are some nice finds! I like the sword and the cufflink. What is the cufflink made out of? And you can argue with finding silver Mercury dime always a good feeling. Congrats!

Very nice finds... lots of variety too! GL&HH.

It had me wondering too, but it says plate right on the front. Still, for a second.... Yep, I'm always good with a Merc, and always happier when its a teen or twenties without the rim being wore down into the date.

Some of my best spots are the trashy ones. They're the ones everyone else stays away from. Persistence pays off. Great job!

Nice finds. As much as we don't want to dig trash, your efforts show that it pays off.
