Met an old timer today

Went to the bank for dumping and chatting up with the guy working there. He told me that he used to search half box and found a lot of silver coins. I asked what time he told me that he started 06 and ended in 08. He found anywhere from more than 10 to 4 per box. Boy that's early and good timing. I only started in 08 and moved to this region recently. That explains why this area is so dry.

He is doing penny box at one box per day rate and I told him about WAM and CAM. He is not a member or lurker of this site as he told me.

I started in 07, I wonder why he quit halves right before it (silver) took off?

He searched all the coins from 1985 to 2005 which were very rich in silver and by the early 08 it dried up. The recession hit in 08 but in this area people were better off so there was not a big surge of depositing halves in 08 and 09 like some other places in this country. People still dump silver coins as I saw in the bag which "can't sell has to go to Fed" but in a steady manner.
