Met another CRH'er today

Went to town today to discover some of the banks loaded down with boxes of halves dumps. One branch had over $24K in dumped halves, so many boxes that the vault space was full and there were boxes stacked up behind the teller!

While waiting in line at another bank, I was chatting with a fellow that was waiting to talk to the head teller about dumping bags of halves. When I mentioned the flood of halves at the other bank, he admitted to being the one that dumped them.

He said that he lives nearer to Atlanta and buys from banks there, then drove here to dump his halves to get them out of his Fed district. We both sat in the bank lobby and chatted for about half an hour. I forgot to ask if he was a member here, but his name was Brian.

It's not just a hobby for some, it's a career.

I'd like 10,000 marbles, please.

Imagine the thoughts that would go through this guy's head if someone tried to carjack him with $25K in unrolled change....

Re: Met another CRH'er today

Hmm.. does the fact that he dumps in your district effect your finds.. ie.. dilutes your finds?

Silver halves from boxes dried up months ago here, so I stopped buying halves boxes locally. I still ask for loose halves once in a while when I go to town. My halves scores lately have been from banks closer to where he lives. My last box score of 81 40%ers was from a bank branch in his town :laughing7:

I still do pennies, dimes, and quarters from banks near me, but I'm back to boxes and CWRs. My source of bags dried up last week. The coin service complained to the bank about the branches selling bags from the coin machines. Their coin service contract apparently prohibits the bank from selling bags to anyone else.
