Hey Tony I was in South Africa for 2 months before the Mauritius trip. I did a fair amount of hunting in SA but the beaches in my area were very sanded in for the entire duration of my trip. I did manage to find four 9k gold rings but I really had to work for them. Also, this year's South African trip was a little different because my girlfriend came down for 3 weeks so I had to do some tourist stuff with her. She also metal detected for her first time - in the surf even! Next year hopefully beach conditions will be better.
