Metal Detecting
If metal detecting - or treasure hunting - is a sport, does that make me an athlete?

With all due respect...no. There is a well known Hemingway quote about sport and games. Swinging a detector would not make the cut.

Hobby, by all means.:occasion14:

Metal detecting is a curse. I only wish I was cursed sooner.

Old Papa Hemingway figured that unless your life was in danger, it wasn't a sport. He was the original "Most Interesting Man in the World " .

Sport. I'm going to start wearing a jersey with a big number 85 on the front/back and my last name under the neck in the back. That was my football number so it seems appropriate. :director::walk:

Why not a yellow cape with a big red "CC" on it ?

Well like all great sports when someone messes with you each party attempts to justify their means, then it gets heated, then it gets a little more heavy, then someone ends up with their feelings hurt and someone walks away feeling a little better.

What hobby does this take place in?

Sport - NO, Sickness - YES!

Must be a social disease cause it's spreading no matter what !
