Metal Detectors

Does anyone know of any areas off of Marathon Fl. where the possession or use of underwater metal detectors is unlawful. Not talking about removing artifacts, just using the detector.

I cannot find any applicable state law in any of the NOAA or Fl. laws to prohibit possession. There are nearby dive shops that rent this stuff I think?

As far as I know, metal detecting in Marathon is legal. You can rent a detector at: Tildens Scuba, MM61, (305) 289-4931, Abyss Dive Cntr, MM54, 743-2126, Marathon Divers, 289-1141. They will also advise you of the detection laws.

Thanks- I have a detector, just knew (or thought) they wouldn't rent them if subject to seizure. Thanks for your post- it affirms my thoughts, and I always like people that agree with me!
