I believe i found a meteorite. I was in the hills by my house and decided to detect in a small clearing. I was there about 30 minutes when i got a hit. I dug it and found the object about 5 inches down. I will post pics later today as i am not at home right now. I have researched it and believe it is a smallish, about the size of a quarter, meteorite. Pics to com

Pic of the "meteorite" compared in size to a u.s. quarter

"Meteorwrong" judging by the really bad photograph. What is it about your rock that makes you think it's from outer space?:icon_thumleft:

I guess you haven't seen the thousands of rocks people post as meteorites it could be but very unlikely

First off. OUCH. Second off, it is ferrous. It was the only thing i found in the area i searched, more than 100 square feet, it has a "fusion" type crust and the surface is not porouse but it is textured like an egg shell. It is really heavy for its size. I am sorry for the "really bad picture" but for some reason the better pics did not show up. Probably something i did wrong. 15433430186283767719900476167368.webp i realize these don't mean i have a meteorite but that is why i came here. To try to get information.
