I found this coin today at an old dairy site. Only the foundation and outer walls are left of the dairy. The only thing I could find out about it...is that it is from Mexico and is 5 cents and that it is no longer in use in Mexico. It says Cinco Centavos 1946 on the front and Estados Unidos Mexicanos on the back. It looks to be a coppery/silver color. The photo of the back is more true to the actual color of the coin. It rang up as copper/silver on my detector and was about 3 inches down. I don't know the age of the dairy and I'm in northeastern California, so was a bit surprised to find it up here in the mountains. I do plan to go back to this site to see what other unique things I can find!

T.L.
Did it come out of the ground like that? it looks like you dipped it in CLR.

Thanks for the helpful info and replies! rck_1, I don't know what CLR is. I did clean the coin though.. it was very dark reddish/brown coming out of the soil..so it must have been there a long time.
Thanks Rod for the research also!
