Mexican Fifty Centavos

I found this Mexican silver fifty cent piece from 1906 while searching an old school grounds. The odd thing is that the entire edge of the coin has been flattened out causing a large lip around the coin. My only guess is the person who lost it was in the process of trying to make a coin ring out of it. Smokewagons.
