I have been reading historical articles about places near me. One particular area was the first horse livery in my town that was established in the mid 1800s. The article mentioned where it was located but was torn down when an expressway was developed in the early 1970s. I knew where it was at so I grabbed my detector and I think I found it.
Part of a horse bit
Hand forged rosehead square spike
1889 IHP
1904 IHP
I will definitely be returning.

Went back today (I am a bit obsessed now) and got a 43P war nickel and a hand forged chisel.

Well done on the IHPs

I always dig a few iron to catch an idea on the square nail age.
Rose heads always give me a slight rush-as there's old here.

Cool 1st edition iron pull tab :laughing7:

I was thinking that could of been a broken timber spike as well.
Nice going on the nickel.

I think you are right about the timber spike. Makes more sense. Thanks

Nice finds. I always like the IH pennies. Silver WWII nickels are always welcome, too! Congratulations and thanks for posting.
