Military Button Help?

Hey Guys

Need a hand with this button

Appears to be a military button I think. Its a two piece button. Shank has fallen off, Its super brittle and I cant make out the backmark. The letters appear to be "NHC" on the front. It has a star at the top and a wreath at the bottom.

Any info would be great

If I were a betting man, I would bet what you have relates to a school or university. There was a New Hampshire College, but the button listed by Albert is not at all like yours.

It is interesting to note that the N and C appear to be upper case but the h is lower case.

I was originally thinking new Hampshire but it was found near New Haven CT.
Could be something with the town?
Wish I could make out the back mark. That would solve all this

It is a New Haven Grays button. There is not one exactly like yours in Albert's book page 126, but the letters and wreath are the same. Here's a link to some information about them.
