Hey guys. I found this today nownit doesn't seem really old maybe ww2 or so but could not find anything on it. Help is needed I'm sure most of you veterans will have no problem. Thank you for your help. It say US with number 2 under...the back has n.y. on it

Attachment leads me to believe it may be a collar device, likely US Army.

US army collar button pre ww2. Found one myself thats a NY regiment. Not sure what the 2 means though.

As said above, just different terminology, collar disk: Dating Metallic Insignia: Collar Disks
That site shows the minor details for determining the date range, but it is somewhere pre WWII as mentioned above
