I think this is from WWI. 1 3/4" x 4", 3/4" thick

I have seen that before. Not military. It is for a shaver. The company made it to be presented as a gift for someone in the military.

Welcome to the forum from Michigan. I do believe also it is silver plate and not silver. Looks like it wasn't a ground find.

1918 World War I Gillette US Military nickled brass safety razor case with embossed Eagle, Shield for name, crossed gun & sword and anchor.

I read it wasn't military issued, it was bought on the civilian market for loved ones in the military. Your post makes it look like it was? Do you have any authoritative information that it was issued? Just curious.

Only info I have is it belonged to my wife's grandfather who was a WWI vet.

Sorry. Didn't mean to imply that it was military issue... I should have stated "military style". I have no information that it was issued by the military.

No problem. We are all here to learn and I was wiling to learn something new. Just because what I learned might have been different, it sure doesn't mean what I learned was the truth! Thanks for the update.
