I was recently bitten by the infamous coil cable "dry-rot" issue on my Excalibur 1000 as the family was packing to head to one of our favorite beach vacation sites. Much to my surprise, when I checked some of my spare coils (mainly for my Sovereigns), I found that they too were starting to suffer from the same issue. I knew this was eventually going to happen based on all of the posts on this subject that I have seen but it is still frustrating when it actually hits you. What is even more frustrating is that I have a two Whites water detectors that are older than all of my Minelab detectors and the Whites detectors are still doing just fine. I hope that Minelab is doing something to address this issue so that future Excalibur/Sovereign/XXXXX models do not cause their owners the same problem. JVF - just venting folks.
