I've thought about getting an excal, but its true value lies in the user being completely submerged, as in while actually diving. Otherwise there are "waterproof" alternatives. At that price though.......

No, it's true value lies in saltwater beaches with iron trash. The deeper you submerge an VLF detector, the less effective it becomes (to a point) because of the larger and larger salt return field above the coil. After a certain depth, a PI becomes a better detector option.

Exactly...!!! It actually has something like 18 frequencies.......
and yes, at $1500 retail and submersible to 200 feet its true value lies in being completely submerged....
OK now everybody run for wikipedia.........

Throwing in the dive shaft with machine Jason. Will ship it with the owners manual when I get moved back to GA where they are in storage which will be Wednesday the 15th of October.

Glad to be moving back this Tuesday! I haven't lost anything in LA! Just call me GA-Flora Boy because this area isn't for me! I'm going to hug the first pretty beach I get to, on either the east coast or panhandle!
