Minelab explorer Question.

I don't know what Kellyco is advertising them for but you could check out our webpage and see if it compares for you. If you use the promo code CL1 you will get a discount. Email us if you have any questions www.gpsupply.us brice@gpsupply.us or cyndi@gpsupply.us but I will let ya know up front that Brice is more knowledgeable about the minelabs then I am but I am hoping to change that real fast! lol Good luck!

Minelab like most other detector companies, has established "retail" prices that their dealers can advertise. Many dealers can help you out at a reduced price or offer accessories to sweeten the deal. Your best bet may be a local dealer that can give you better support. Although you may get a better price by making some phone calls or sending a few Emails to some of the large multi-line detector dealers on the web by asking for their best price.

Jeff,
Please let me know if I can help you in any way!
Thank you,
Kellyco Chick

I checked a number of different places before I bought mine a couple of weeks ago. The price is pretty well set at around $1290. Every dealer offers different bonus packages. KellyCo has a nice package with their free hand held pin-pointer (you have to pay the shipping for it). I was wanting a Sunray X-1 probe which for some reason KellyCo doesn't carry? Anyway the best deal I found was at detector depot out of Tennessee. They have the Sunray products, free shipping and lots of extras with the purchase including a free 8" coil in addition to the 10" slimline coil. Everything arrived on time and in great shape. Hope this helps. You will LOVE the SE once you understand what it is telling you.

I just checked out their site that does look like a good deal.

I'm looking at the same deal through detectordepot. Looks much better than Kellyco right now. The stuff Kellyco throws in is not worth it to me.

Question #1- Better to spend the extra $100 and get the Sunray probe over the extra Minelab coil? If I do decide to get another coil, should I go with Coil Tek or Sunray coil? I'm thinking a smaller coil is all I need to have the best setup.

Question #1- Which headphones? Grey Ghost, Sunray or Killer Bees? I know, they are all probably just as good as the next. Not sure if Grey Ghost or Killer Bees have them, but the Sunrays with leather muffs sound more durable. I know from past experiences with music headphones that leather muffs will last MUCH longer than any other material.

Can't wait to start learning the SE. I've already downloaded the manual and will start reading it tomorrow. Maybe make my purchase at the end of the week.

Weasel_Loader,

I would recommend the Sunray 5.5" coil. I purchased this coil with the SE and love it. It is really easy to pinpoint with. The X-1 probe is awesome as well. I am currently using the headphones that came with the SE (even these are very nice) Good luck the SE is a great machine!

Hello T00Many!
It's rather ironic I am reading this thread because I too realized I wanted another SE after selling mine several short weeks ago. I was lucky to find a used/almost new one on another forum yesterday; sending away my money just this morning! I needed to order new Killer Bee Hornet headphones, Coiltek Platypus coil/lower rod, and SX-1 probe and it was no easy task to find them all at one place! I ended up ordering them from Detector Depot, paying too much but receiving free shipping. And, I did all of this less than 5 minutes ago!

I was very close to ordering the SE package from Detector Depot. I was foregoing the 8 inch coil/rod, opting for the SunRay probe. Believe me, you don't want to be without the inlign probe. The probe/SE combo is the better value in my opinion. You can always pick up the coil and lower rod later (and possibly a good used one) but you don't see too many used SX-1 probes for sale. You will spend $210 for the probe and upper rod if purchased separately.

Good luck!
