minelab meter problems

I have a Elite an the 1st meter (550) scale lasted about 1 year an 3 months an had to send it in for repair, the repair lasted about 1 week an had to send it back, they sent me a new (180) scale meter it lasted about 1 month an had to send it back an againg it lasted about 1 month an off it went again an now 2 months later it is again messed up, the same problem everytime, constant false signals, pull the meter off an the machine runs fine, put it on nothing but false signals, I have a few areas I like to hunt that I really need the meter, tons of trash to pick thru, anybody else having these kinds of problems. I put a nice loop at both ends of the coil wire so there is no strain on the fitting.

I suspect there might me a problem at the plug where the meter joins the detector. When it is attached, and you move the meter wire, does it effect the reading?

More and more hunters are forsaking the meters and screens and relieving on just the sounds. Guys with Tesoro's don't have meters on many of their detectors and they make a killing is trashy areas just by using a smaller coil.

got a call from Sandy an she's paying to have the whole unit sent back this time,meter,control box an coil, I am 99% sure its just the wire coming off the meter.I wonder why they don't use the same wire on the meter as they do on there coils, the coil wire sure seems like it built better. I can hunt in high trash if all I want is coins,with the meter I am able to cut out the most common tabs an still find the gold, just hard to do without 1 when there's 5-10 pull tads every other step

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,UP DATE >>>Unit sent in on the 17 of Oct. an got it back on the 31, pretty good turn around, the paper work says they replace the (main PC board) in the detector.Minelab paid for shipping there an back 8)... even thou its been there 6 times for repair I have to say minelab has been good about it,all e-mails have been answer very fast, most within a few hours of sending, even recieved a phone call to my house about the machine.So far the service has been good, the machine well its a machine, an **** happens.
