Detector(s) used
Garrett Euro Ace, Garrett Pro Pointer
Hi all,
ive been away for a while from both the forum and metal detecting in general, but at last im back. Due to fincancial difficulties i had to sell my viking metal detector but now im back on the straight and narrow im looking for another good metal detector, could anyone recommend one?
Im looking to find coins and relics on fields and in the woods. My grandad owns a farm that has a old roman road running through it so i want to do some sweeping there. Also when i go on holiday i want to use it on the beach. I can't spend more than £200 on one so if anyone could recommend a good one for that price i would be grateful. As the subject says i have been looking at Minelabn Musketeer would this be suitable or should i look for another.
Any help would be grateful
Regards

In that price range, the Musketeer Advantage is the deepest. If you are looking for a TID unit then I would go for the Xterra 30 with the ACE 250 as a runnerup IMO.Goodluck

Considering your hunting site i agree with warsawdaddy on the Minelab Advantage. It isn't affected by disturbed ground as much as some detectors and has manual ground balance and goes deep. It's one of my keeper detectors. Great at iron infested sites.

Another detector that i would highly recommend for iron sites would be the fisher 1236x2. It is no slouch but lacks the manual ground balance.

I use both at sites not heavily infested with modern trash. You also have the the contrast of a detector designed around a DD Coil (Advantage) and a detector designed around a concentric coil (1236x2).

Just my opinion based on ones i've used. HH Bill

In your price range and location the Minelabs are the way to go for ignoring the iron in the soil. Forget the Ace 250 for any beach work except dry sand only.

Thanks for the sound advice. I think i will go with the advantage it is a bit more than my price range, but id rather do it right first time. The sites have been gone over before but that was many years ago and i know technology has improved alot since then, so hopefully there are more goodies to find! Can anyone give me any advice on where i can research about the sites i know partly where the roman road is but i want to know where it goes and how far?

Any help will be appreciated

Regards
Sean

I own a musk. and I'm gad I got it. You won't go wrong with it. Easy to use and goes
deep. And for the price, it's the best for the buck. Will work as good or even better then those high priced ones.

Would love to have one.But the wife says pick 2 so there is my answer. One of these days's........rh

Go with the Minelab and you will come home with what ever is in the ground, these detectors smoke,
Eddy
