This little guy came from the same site as the other celt I posted. Not as well made, but awfully cute and it has a great bit. Both were found this past summer.

Nice finds, sure have enjoyed all the pictures you posted!

Thank you

Nice Celt.
That's an interesting pigment. Most of the celts found in this area are composed of hematite. Do you know the composition of your celt? Will it attract a magnet?
Good luck with future hunting.

Thanks for the compliment docman.

I don't know what this green hard stone is called, but it is not hematite and is not attracted by a magnet. It is a different material than the other celts and celt parts I have found that are all of the same material. Similar, but different.

Very nice celt you have there, here is th eonly one I have that was a personal find. Thanks for sharing
Clint

Clint,
That's a more traditional-looking celt. It still amazes me as to how smooth these pieces are. If you think about the (limited) technology they had those hundreds of years ago, they must have had to work long and dilligently to produce such a surface.

Guito,
I can see the green pigment now that I look a little closer. That's a very interesting piece! I'm not a celt expert, but I just don't recall seeing one that light. Again, nice find!
Mark
