Hi All,
Sorry for neglecting you (again! :-[ ) I'm still getting out - just not finding the time to photograph stuff and making a post - bit busy at home just lately.
Anyway - after digging this up I thought it was worth the effort to share it with you - Unusual it is, quite spooky too (just in time for Halloween). I've been given some stubble to go over; many have gone before, but I've got it all Winter so I may just find some more things in it - and then I'll follow the plough.
I thought this was a small lead weight when I first dug it up... Until I got it home and cleaned it - Human Skull:

Fits in the palm of your hand, only about 2cm high, weighs 10.4 grams:

There has been so much detail going into making this, and by the colour of the lead I can imagine it being several hundred years old. Anyone else dug one of these? Ideas spring to mind of it being a Talisman (or curse) .... any ideas?

Other finds on the field included 3 beautiful Spindle Whorls, Buckles, many buttons, bits of pottery, etc. Couldn't find any coin older than George III though!

Best wishes,
David.

pretty cool piece! looks more ape like :laughing7:

We have seen carved minnie balls and I been on digs at camp sites were musketballs were found that were turned into gaming dice and checkers. Could this be a carved musketball? Just a guess.

BTW I love it. Very cool.

Wow! You found one too! Nice one... I think they must have had too much time on their hands back then, sat waiting for something to come along to shoot!
