Can't help ya on the "Rock" either but Cool Ring :thumbsup:
 

The rock looks like iron pyrite, but its hard to tell from the picture. Does it chip or dent when you apply pressure to it with a knife? If it dents or bends, its metal (likely native copper or melted brass) if it breaks, its probably pyrite.
