tres30.webpWe hunt because we have to. We find things because we can. Location, machine, ability, and luck sometimes converge to give us something which puts a smile on our faces and makes us forget those many hours of swinging the coil and finding nothing. From deep in the woods this morning in what was once the 180 acre farm of my town's Revolutionary War Hero.

buttons5.webpI'm going to come clean and admit I had no idea of the magnitude of this find and what it really is. And I'm not offended at all in saying so. On the other hand, some who know this item well might not ever have the same level of connection to the land a find is made on nor the person who probably lost it. I've bridged the gap between the person who lost it with their descendant. When I'm on the former colonial farm I stop by their old cemetery to say hello to the entire family. I have a brick and some square nails from their 1770 house sitting next to me now. I'm here to learn and thankful for those who know. Meanwhile, I'm going to continue killing it out in the field. Most of my finds are in excellent condition because of the underlying sand providing good drainage. I was excited enough to take a picture as soon as this relic was born again into the air, seen here. And I knew it was 1700's. And now I certainly know what a GW Inaugural Button is! Happy hunting everyone.

Thats what makes it all worth while cool find
