Artifacts were cheap in 1947! Thanks for this post. Most interesting.
 

It was John Witthoft who intuited the connection of fluted points to the pleistocene era and their exclusivity to it who coined the term "paleoindian" (formerly paeleoindian) (Shoop Site report, 1952). Previous to this, fluted points were commonly referred to as "Folsoms," and no one was sure whether or not they may have been a special type (possibly ceremonial) made by all, or many later peoples.

Witthoft established the entire context/contextual boundaries, at one stroke.

When I started collecting in '85 there were still old timers that called all fluted points "Folsoms". Gary
 

Great post! I'll have to show this to my great grandson. First time I took him out to hunt he ask me, "grandpa, was there arrowheads when you was a little boy"?
