Wow I thought Russau woulda posted on this one as he is living the good life in Misery?? There is a GPAA chapter he supports close to him and last I heard a GREAT fella named Lee was running the show. Chris, there isn't much native gold to find in MO, but there is Glacial gold. Find some maps of the glacial morains and look for where rivers and streams cut through them. Search just downstream of the those morain cuts.

Adair county is the hot spot from what I've heard. Anywhere along the Chariton river. Make sure to find land owners and obtain permission. Private property everywhere you look.
Check out either of the MO chapters (show Me near KC and Gateway chapter in the St. Louis area)

Have heard of glacial gold in central and northern MO. There is also silver in Benton and St. Clair County's.

HA! The only good life in Missouri is tricking yourself into thinking that it is better than anywhere else!
lol, well I guess thats if you live in Springfield.
I was "Stuck" in Springfield for 6 long long LONG years after marking a poor business choice to go out there and get into business with my Grandmother flipping houses, RE market hit the rocks shortly after we got there and I had already dumped all my money and credit into that place.

Springfield Mo was my hell on earth, I celebrated my 1 year escape from that place this last October.

Granted, I enjoyed going to St. Louis and Kansas City oh and going over to Tulsa for my wifes Hanson Concerts that she liked to go to.

It took having a good Union Job and part time Mustang parts business on the side to be able to get enough money back together to leave Missouri and come back home to California.

Sorry for the rant, I simply just hated Springfield.

what part of Missouri are you in, or looking at? what kind of equipment do you have to use? when do you plan to go looking??buy/read Chuck Lassiters book on prospecting in the mid-west. his site is www.midwestprospector.com the book info is there on his home page! there is already a thread about Missouri gold here on T-N, it has a lot of info already done!
