my friend called me today saying he got in his chance a quarter thats golden. i was like awesome hang onto it, then he said he spent it on lunchables!!!!!! i started cussing him out and he said he was just kidding, he sent me some pics from a phone, crappy pics. tell me what u think, im thinking its one of those cheap ass plated coins from those shop at home network guys. my book doesnt show its possible for a quarter to be stricked on a sacockawea, the other way around yes, well i will be seeing this coin in about a week (im using his car)

You hit it right on the nose, it's one of the gold-plated Home Shopping Network items. Sounds like someone got wise to their worthlessness and spent it. Interesting find still.

it really yanks my chain that they sell this crap. Unsuspecting people buying it like it is going to be worth a whole lot...I really feel sorry the saps (they are sooo gullible to those ads).

Probably the same ones that think they can win the Nigerian, Spanish or Irish lottery. Always the folks that can't really afford it too.

If my memory serves me correctly, I believe that there were "gold quarters" in some of the quarter keepers for kids when they were first minted.

I'm talking about the 50 state quarter keepers. Some of the keepers/albums came with the first 5 states minted, and of those some of them were gold in color. Not that they were real gold or anything like that. When they first came out, I was going to get a couple of them for my kids, but they wanted the large single 50 state quarter keeper.
