I've had permission to hunt a rather sizable farm between rapidan and mitchells, the alexandria and orange railroad runs through the property. I have done some research and found some old CW maps that show this area as well as cedar mountain and show that there was union troop lines somewhere in the area. i have hunted this area quite a bit and have found a few things but "not much". My question is, Doe's anybody have any ideas on possible camp locations or something of the sort ? There is another guy that goe's md on this same farm, however, he finds all kinds of stuff. Ive asked the owners if they know which direction he goes when comes there but they have no idea. Any help would be appreciated. thanks, -jeff

Is this an invitation? I'll do research if I can hunt.

I wish I could take other people with me, believe me if I could I would. It would help cover the area better, its so vast that you could hunt everyday for ten years and not cover the same spot twice. I appreciate the offer though.

MITCHELL’S, February 27, 1864.
Lieutenant-Colonel KINGSBURY, Assistant Adjutant-General:
My pickets are 1 mile beyond Mitchell’s Station, in an open field.
The woods are about one-fourth mile in front of them. Our right
connects with the cavalry near Bald Pate Mountain. On our left
the cavalry extends beyond us some 200 yards in front.
S. H. LEONARD,
Colonel, Commanding Brigade.

I hunt a union camp in Mitchells about twice a year. Has been somewhat productive.

thanks for everybods input. I know the stuff is there somewhere I just can't find it. I went there yesterday and did find one musket ball or round ball or whatever you want ot call it (it was old).
