Here’s a rather eclectic mix of finds from my property:
I actually found several unopened Anheuser-Busch bottles but you could see sediment in them. They were in the cars I found.
Strange writing on door found in a stack of doors from the home that burned in the 70’s. Figured some 70’s teens were just messing around because I could find no such letter images. Unfortunately the door no longer exists.
Some kind of farm/animal thing….ideas??
Heavy cast iron that I think is some kind of top piece, maybe a vent. Not a pot. It’s about 3 1/2 feet wide.
Recent finds. Vicks bottle, Dura-Gloss nail polish, Wildroot hair crème, Helene Curtiss perfume bottle, I think. A glass bottle with a glass wand inside - maybe nail polish but the bottle is slightly too large for nail polish, in my opinion. Maybe a hair tincture. Was that something ever applied with a wand and bristles?
Found this in ‘20 or ‘21. Kind of unexpected because it is more expensive than typical items found and just seems a bit out of place. It wasn’t in the ground but between boards and beams stacked in an old Finnish homestead that had been converted to chicken coop decades after it was a farm.
When looking at my property on Google earth I saw two touching rectangle shiny things. Resembled cars and with all the auto parts scattered in the property it made sense. I loved trudging through wild ferns and thick trees following my movements using Google earth. My son and I hooted and cheered - it was exciting finding them! One is a Delmont. The other starts with the letter ‘B’ I think, but I can’t remember.
Some of the jars from the pic nic table in pic above, washed up. The large one has liquid in it that still fizzes. Upon smelling it I think it could’ve been a liniment.
For my first post I tried to find a broad range of things. But my gosh! There’s just so many cool things I’ve found. From a (very detailed) car hood ornament to the remains of a stone barn and everything in between. I have found bowls from the 60’s and 70’s and a cup, that I have cleaned and now use. They’re not valuable, and they’re intact and clean up as well as any dish - so why toss them or throw them away? I used an old dog food and water bowl I found for my own dog until it did break. A nice way to remember the pets that used it previously, I think.
Anyway, I’m open to any corrections or input on my finds. 😃 Hopefully you find them as interesting as I do. The ‘treasure pit’ is like a bit of a farm and family landfill which I learned was quite common to have in lieu of garbage pick up like we have today. …One man’s trash. 😁
