I found this buckle yesterday at an 1831 house. It has all the looks of a shoe buckle but the material is thin and the tongue/chape look modern. Everyone ever see anything like this?
I figure it's not too old but I didn't think they made shoe buckles past the late 1700s/early 1800s.
Also it is rather small so I'm wondering if it was from a child, or perhaps a different kind of buckle altogether.
