My friend found this dime while we were water hunting in a large lake on the Idaho/Utah border last Saturday. It's a dime minted in 1877 but the reverse has raised lettering or initials applied. It still has it's reeded edge. It also has a bit of solder on the front, maybe from a soldered on loop or something. Anyone have any idea what this thing is other than an old dime? Also, I apologize for the bad pictures, I only had my phone with me and his place is very dark.

My guess would be someone once used it as a pendant

I'm sure theres a lost talent for the skills to make those love tokens as the Victorian era silversmiths and jewelry makers did...super find!
