Molybdenite from last week

I collected this from a YMCA camp last week, saved a few nice pieces from destruction. Because i love geochemistry so im going to mine this stuff for Molybdenum (for my element collection) ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1470172972.148028.jpg

Yeah, I guess ill find out when my other hobby comes into place... Chemistry!!! Yes im going to refine these (or try to) and get the molybdenum out (if it is molybdenite)

Looks like iron oxide to me; but can't tell from the pix. ID'ing moly is really easy, it's soft, slippery, and blue-silvery, often in thin hexagonal platy crystals. Only thing that really looks like it is graphite, which is very similar, but silver and black, without the blue. If what you have isn't moly, you can always buy some online to practice your refining skills, it's not rare or expensive for massive pieces.
