Any ideas where to go in Montana for golf panning, a possible claim,metal detection, headed there for prospecting trip for the first time,thanks

Lots of spots around Helena; Virginia city and Nevada city; Confederate Gulch; Radersburg; and Libby. There's a lot more as well as along the Western part of Montana along the border (Ottawa district) with Idaho. If you get to Helena, drop in to the prosperctor's shop run by Bud Guthrie on the highway out of Helena heading west. He's got lots of equipment and always has a great collection of beautiful nuggets for sale to boot. Plus, he knows a ton about finding gold in Montana. I know there's a club with a club claim in the Libby district if you'd like to got that route.
