Month long silver coin drought ends!

Didn't have many options for places to hunt today so I returned to a home I have hit hard all summer. I usually concentrate on the back yard since that's where I have found most of the coins. (MANY wheats, a silver Washington and 2 war nickels.) The front yard had only given up a couple wheats. Today I decided to try the front yard again. I found a wheatie right off and then got a nice high tone. Turned out to be a 51 Franklin half. This is my 3rd half and the first one I didn't scratch.


About 4 feet from the Franklin I got another 94 on the Deus and was hoping for another half dollar but it turned out to be this North Carolina National Guard award/medal thingy. Any information on it would be appreciated. (I also posted in the What is it forum.)

The center part is covered with some sort of plastic like material. Maybe it used to be clear plastic.

Congrats on your Benny, I'm still after my first. Nice challenge coin too, I found my first a couple weeks ago. Hard to find info, I just did a search and could not find yours. I found some with one side the same as mine but the backs were all different.

I didn’t know it was a challenge coin. Thanks for the info! I have been keeping up with your progress this year since you and I have similar silver totals. The Franklin puts me at 25 for the year, which was my goal starting out. (Had 13 last year, but mostly hunted newer schools and parks.)

Thanks Tom! I was very surprised to see it. Especially since I know I have walked over the area at least a few times. I was going to send a brag text to you but since it was about 7:30 pm I figured you were already in the bed.
