I have burned myself out with this spot. I need to move on. Got one more V-Nickel 1898 and Buffalo head 1926. Did find two interesting Phillipinas Ten Centavos 1944, 1945. Does anyone know if the Centavos are silver? HH all. :icon_thumleft:

Re: Mooving on from the nickely beach.

They are silver! That is a great beach, you have made a lot of nice finds there. The only downside to a salt beach is that it trashes silver, but the nickles come out nicer than from dirt.I have no luck at the beach,if I could find a spot like yours I would hit all winter, the snow and frozen ground leave few other options.

Not bad, the salt takes its toll on some of the items.

Re: Mooving on from the nickely beach.

Thank you for the info Deepdigger. They have a D near the date, so I assume they were minted in Denver. How interesting that site was you posted. I had no idea about the history of the American/Spaish war with the deal made for the Phillipines. To think they were minted in Denver and I found them in mass. :)
Thanks you Knightwalker and rj.

Thanks for the pictures. I just realized that it says United States Of America on the coin. :icon_thumleft: Are these coins rare to find?

I dont think its the type of coin you find everyday i only seen a few iam sure a lot of Vets Spanish American War to WW 2 Vets brought home with them, both of mine were old home sites mixed in with USA silver coins like Merc,s and Washington quarters The first coins where minted in 1903 in Philadelphia they where copper bronze and silver. I also found a 1933 Five Centavos Copper at a old school field the back is completely smooth i would say they are not common coins . Jim
