Hi, all. Just wanted to post up some pictures from what I believe is the last of my finds from my hot section of beach, as it is completely sanded in at this point. Went out there a few times this week to see if I could salvage a few more finds before Mother Nature filled the sand back in, and I was lucky enough to come away with a few more goodies, including more clad, to bring my total over two weeks to around $75 and almost 700 coins. On Tuesday I was working near the high tide line when I got a penny signal that kept bouncing a bit lower. When I dug it, I realized that I had found another old coin- a 1906 Indian. I was pretty excited, as this was the oldest coin that I had found in that section. Not 15 minutes later I was swinging along the same line when I got a nice, solid nickel signal. I remember hoping that I might have a Buffalo, but when I dug out the sand and flipped it over, a broken, old men's gold ring was sitting there. The stone is one that I've never seen- maybe just discolored from years of being buried in beach sand. Does anyone have an opinion on what it might be? it looked like a black onyx coming out of the wet sand, but as it dried, it turned this milky white color. It looks like the karat stamp was on the missing piece... But I'm sure that its old gold as I can see the cross-section of it where it broke. I'm thinking that I might have a jeweler take a look at it to see if it's worth fixing. May go back tomorrow to look for another cut. Thanks for looking in and happy hunting!

Mi$terG, your time and diligence paid off and I would agree that is an older looking ring. Amazing the side broke out of it though from the picture it is very thin in the break out area. The stone reminds me of being sand blasted, likely a good polishing with a variety of paste grits would bring it back to its old luster and likely black. Congrats............63bkpkr

Nice finds Mi$terG!

Nice finds. let us know what the stone in the ring turns out to be. You maybe correct that it is onyx and a good polishing maybe all that's needed. IH pennies are neat finds, too. In the past year, we've found 2 - both in parks.

Keep up the great finds!

Anita

Nice finds Always good to dig up those Indian pennies... Shane

Not bad, nice finds! Congrats and HH!

Thanks to everyone who replied. Not sure if the stone has been sandblasted, as its surface is still smooth to the touch. I'm afraid that it could be a chemical reaction to decades of salt water exposure... Or I could be wrong about the stone!
