This is from a road cut I have passed who knows how many times. Didn't have any fossicking tools with me, so I didn't get much.
pic 1 is either heterophrentis or heliophyllum. I can't get a good picture of the depth inside of cone. 2 is ??

Mamabear, I believe your item in the second photo is a cone-shaped fossil coral. I am not sure of it's scientific name but am sure that Harry or Ninjafossils can help us out.

first thought on pic 1 was horn coral, the second still not sure. I will keep looking through my books, & hope that Harry or Ninjafossils will reply.

While the angles aren't great, I can see that you do have some type of horn coral.

Old Digger, yup you're right, that is exactly what I have. Went out to a different site today, found some nice ones, but am waiting for my friend to see them in situ. & I found a partial fossil about the size of my hand. It was slick tho, where there wasn't ice, there was mud, but cabin fever overcomes mud & ice after awhile.. Have to go back when it dries out a little.
Ninja, I took 20 shots trying to get the angle correct but as you can see success eluded me.
