The disc is a coulter to a moldboard plow. It cuts the sod just before the plow turns it over.

Thank you, that makes sense. I found an iron plow board in the same area a few days ago.

My wife wants to clean and paint the headboard for use in one of the gardens. Maybe for morning glories or peas to climb. I like to repurpose whenever possible. Give something a 2nd life instead of a trip to a landfill/scrapyard. I’ve got just enough hillbilly in me that I don’t mind a little “tacky” along the way.😄

I’ll probably paint it silver. I can’t find any silver, I might as well make some!😂
