This was actually from yesterday but I wanted to run some of the iron through electrolysis before I posted. Finds are starting to thin out but they are still coming. A few buttons and a really cut up copper, scabbard tip and a brass piece with threads and a screen. Not sure what it went to though. Open to opinions. I thought the lead iron and the game piece was kinda cool. Also found a what is it iron relic. Any ideas? I think the find of the day for me was the blacksmith tongs. After some time in the electrolysis bath they opened right up. Thanks for looking.

I,m not sure but I think the iron thing is one of two possibilities.
Either a sash lock for an old casement type window, or a hold back for shutter.

call that chopper, shoe pullers as in a farrier removing horseshoes from a hoof, or pull offs for short

looks like you did an awesome job cleaning that up, would love to see a before and after pic of the blacksmith tool

Cool stuff.
Probably cooler by the mill stream than out in the open these days.

The item on the right in the 5th picture looks like a scabbard tip. Nice finds!

Thanks for the info guys.

Oxbowbarefoot it is a scabbard tip. Not sure what the other piece in that pic is

More cool finds from you. You never disappoint.

The game piece is cool. what game do you guess it is from?

Rick, it isn't bad along the stream but the bugs are out of control.

Qball, I'm not sure what they would have used it for. Maybe chess. Now that I think of it it may not even be a game piece.

Those items are very similar. Ill have to take a closer look and see if I can figure it out. Thanks

Very cool stuff, looks like an Iron for clothes, maybe for doll house, for little girl

Yeah, with this hot humid weather we've been having the bugs are bad, esp. in the shade, or after sundown.

I do believe that the window lock is a very good guess.
Keep diggin man...I'm not getting out much.
It's very hot right now here in the computer room which is upstairs, like a freekin attic.

I did too, Dave. The settings on the outside reminded me of the ones on an item I found at an 1820's site.

Thanks Dave. I searched that hole for a half hour after I pulled the ring out to see if there was some kind of stone but no luck.

Are you sure that's a scabbard tip? It looks like a flag mast cap to me

Is there a general size to those caps? I think it's a scabbard.

Those photos including the size reference did a good job of changing my mind.. Looks much more like a scabbard tip to me now

Ok good to know. I always forget to add the measurements.
