Digging around in that spot of the creek was definitely a good idea! Found 2 more shards and a fat beat up quartzite point :headbang: WP_20150623_001.webpWP_20150623_003.webpWP_20150623_004.webpWP_20150623_005.webp

I am not so sure that is a point. It has a general outline, but that's about it.

It's been in the creek and tumbled a lot. I started not to post it but I have several of these type verified by the archaeologists. For some reason they made some of their stone stuff thick and it might have been a tool not so much a point.

With that type of stone a lot of the time that was as good as they could do. During the Mississippian time they relied more on farming than hunting also so points were not as good. Good finding something though.

That definitely looks like pottery though (maybe woodland period?) & if you're finding suspicious looking stone there too I think there is a good chance it's legit. They didn't always get to finish their work & it's not always obvious what their purpose was anyway. Nice spot u have. Keep looking!

The larger one fits to two others I found last year. If any of you find ones that fit would you glue them together and if so, what type glue would you use. Here is 2 pics of them together, not glued.

Nice finds. I'm sure you can see much more clearly what you're holding in your hand. Amazing that you continue to piece that pot together! Continued good luck!

I wouldn't use mustard. Jk. I've glued old porcelain in the past with good results - but never tried the pottery. If the edges are sharp enough go for it. Experiment 1st maybe with a couple pieces u don't care much for, whether they match or not. I used tacky glue on the porcelain. Aka wacky or crazy glue.

Instead of starting a new thread for one little shard just thought I'd add it here. Found today in same general spot as the others. 5 shards in 4 days is a record for me lol WP_20150624_004.webpWP_20150624_005.webp

Yeah clay pottery is cool. Some of the designs are really interesting & every piece unique. I've got a spot this year I pull 20 to 60 shards every time & most of it looks like yours. Occasionally mixed amongst it you should find some nice flaked tools if you haven't already. Try using a probe of some kind to find a busy spot. HH.
