Hit a couple parks the last couple of days. As I've noticed here already, the obvious areas are cleaned out pretty well, so I concentrate my hunts around the picnic tables where the trash is abundant. I keep the Legend in ground tracking mode and set recovery real high, and proceed very slowly so as to not miss anything. I can usually yank out aluminum tabs with my 'hooked' brass probe within seconds, so they don't slow me down much.

On Sunday, when the parks are full of people, it's especially challenging to get near the tables without bothering anybody. Tough hunt that day, but I did manage a 925 earring (the little one on the left), a junk ring and earring, a hose nozzle, a toy car and $3.63 in clad.

Yesterday I was able to get up close and personal to the table areas. I kinda felt bad when a guy showed up to detect and headed straight into an area I hammered last week. After about 20 minutes he went back to his car and left. I never did see him stop to dig a signal, so I guess I cleaned it out pretty good.
I yanked out tabs and pieces of foil by the dozens, but managed a few keepers.

A couple of these were real heart stoppers! The two rings and the heart pendant are 925 and the others are junk. That makes 124 silvers so far this year! That bracelet really had me going for a second, as did the pendant and solitaire ring.
Okay, back at it, gotta find some gold now!

Best of luck to all my fellow searchers!

Very Nice!!! Congrats!!!

You did well, working in the trashy areas. I would be interested in seeing your hooked brass probe.
Here it is after I used it to pull this entire key ring complete with gold ring from under the grass.

Thanks for showing that. I'm going to make one for myself. Sounds like it saves some digging.

Nice finds! I like your hook thingy! I'm going to give that a try and sacrifice a crochet hook!
