Conoco Phillips says within less than 2 years they will be taking 700 MORE jobs out of here. The refinery workers will stay but everything else the employee can go to Bartlesville, Houston or where ever else CP picks or they can take their severence ! We have around 20,000 population, we are losing businesses every month, the only place that will be left is Wal-Mart, unless you have $ to go out of town to shop, and this walmart is doing away with sooo many of the products that I use. Its just plain crazy!

Jeff if this is more of a rant I understand if you move it!

Heard this morning WallMart is down

& Trump Filed for Bankruptcy again.
Must be down to his last Hundred Million :P
Or looking for a Handout

But even MORE my son-law has been laid off. Some friends of theres are looking out of town for work, but her friend doesn't care about family so they happy about looking elsewhere. Daughter and her husband dont want to do it but there are no jobs here, so if his does not start calling back in a couple of months they may have to look else where!

I dont trust that man as far as i can throw him. I guess he can get away with it cuz he's got all those millions, and too much money to have a conscience. But let one of us hard working folks with good credit hit hard times and God forbid have to file bankruptcy and we've pretty much just ruined everything we've ever worked hard for.

Makes me sick that he has all that money but files bankruptcy so he doenst have to pay his debt. Guarantee you he does it on purpose. I dont understand how he sleeps at night....very well i suppose.

Sorry to hear about your son inlaw Evy...hopefully he'll find something not so far away, and SOON.

News crew from Tulsa is 1 block away at the Conoco parking lot! They are saying 250 starting and another 500 in 2010 into 2011. So I guess we start looking as to how to live in a ghost town! Sorry to be such a pesimist.

Dont apologize for being a pesimist Evy. These days its real easy to feel that way.

Here's to hoping your grandkids get a good education in math and science. We have a generation of managers running this country. Managers cannot create, only manage. What's left when they manage us out of work?

Teach them little ones to be creative, big or even small-idea people and you won't need to fear for their well-being.

Sorry to hear this Evy, I hear even 'Vegas' is emptying out.

fossis............

Hello Granny Things sound pretty bad around your neck of the woods, too. That is interresting about little jacob
being so into weather. That is good to have that strong an interest in it at his age. Bravo for him. Give him some
steady and regular encouragement while he is growing and he could turn out to be a top weatherman. That is a field,
that there should always be a demand for, with only a few people getting into it.

We've had a couple special ed kids on the block over the years, they were called "slow" or worse. One of them owns his own landscape business now and competes and wins against the immigrant crowd. Going gangbusters. The other, well never seen him without a smile on his face and some job to go to or come from. As long as they're around, I'm good to go.

Can't look at other people who some would write off but demonstrate that will and simple happiness that comes from being useful in some way and wonder, what lesson did I miss?

Didn't miss anything, just being useless again and not recognizing it. Never known hard times myself, but spent a lot of time being useless. Elsinore is clawing again, meowing something about how useless a computer is compared to a good belly rub.

And we live in an area where there is alot of storm activity mainly spring and summer, its just getting him to stay safe while hes wanting to stand with papa and dad to look at the storms Jeff use to watch for storms when he was on fire dept. And I like watching them too!

If you do refinery work you will still have a job around here but the rest they are sending away with for efficancy they say.
Found out last night Jacobs teacher, her husband will be transfered away. The people who know her are in hopes he'll only go as far as Bartlesville, which is only a little less than an hour away and maybe she will commute, she is really well liked, and I had not even thought about that, how many other peoples jobs will change if they have a spouse that transfers.

The last I knew Hunter wants to be a teacher but dont know if that was said since his sister answered before him and that is what she said, ;D I do know he loves to sing and after he hears a song twice he starts singing it!

We have one cat named Wringer and he lays on top of a short bookcase when you walk past it he flips over being very cute (he thinks ) and wants a belly rub, it sits next to the desk top so he is always askinf Jeff to rub!

But we are going to have 2 new places to eat but I cant speak Spanish so no job for me.
