✅ SOLVED Mother Goose Rhymes Book

I have a wove cloth Mother Goose Rhymes book. I've been searching for info on for over 2 yrs. Its all hand painted, hand drawn, and hand written. There's a total of 30 pages with the 1st and last page being apart of the cover. There's no date, origin, author, or illustrator anywhere. The cover is mainly blue. Can anyone help with any info or knowledge on this book?

You can definitely tell that it's mostly handmade. No pixels in any writing or pics. You can see at certain points where certain details were either forgotten or added later. I'll post detailed pics. Do you happen to know the author or illustrator or anything about it specifically?

Hi, it's printed on linen or a similar fabric. There are no pixels because the book is about 100 years old - they used different processes then for printing in color. I looked for a name in the illustrations but didn't see one. Sometimes book illustrators "signed" their illustrations, that is, their name is written in the illustration somewhere. It's definitely a printed book. The lack of color on the front cover in spots is where the color has rubbed off from use.

As far as knowing anything about this edition, I'd say it is from about 1910-1920. And I would think that if the book was complete there would be a title page. Are there any words on the last page or inside the back cover?

The last page is also part of the book. Me and a book appraiser looked in by the binding underneath near the spine and there's definitely no pages missing or anything. It's how it was originally made and that's been confirmed by almost every book expert or librarian in the mid west of the U.S. These are the front and back inside cover of the book.

Also theres 3 pics that have a insignia it seems. I'll post what it looks like.

What you have is a commercially printed book.

The “Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe” illustration (3rd pic from your first post) is in the “Miriam and Ira D. Wallach Division of Art, Prints and Photographs; Picture Collection” as a chromolithograph on linen paper. The source is given as “Mother Goose : Rhymes” or “Mother Goose Melodies” published by the Mcloughlin Brothers of New York in 189?, with the print dated as approximately 1890-1899. The original artist name who produced the illustration is not given.

PS: If you search "Jack Horner" at the link I provided above, you'll find that illustration is there too (first pic from your first post) with the same source given.

A problem is that if your book appraiser told you it was a hand-made, hand-colored book, that appraiser is pulling your leg.

Holy crap! I wish I knew about this site way before now. That's more info in a few hours then I've found all year. Ty everyone. Also with this info I'm going to talk to that appraiser here about all of this.

Ok so even after going through everything I was given so far I still can't find a copy of this book anywhere. It also still makes it the oldest copy of any mother goose book I can find that's intact and complete. Can anyone find the cover anywhere? I can't find any mother goose book that's on wove paper like this. Any other possible ideas?

I did manage to find this but still cant find anything more. This is only image or reference to this book in a 1910 Mcloughlin Brothers of New York catalog and is the only time ever mentioned.

Mother Goose books have been around since the 1600s. Your book is worth less than ten dollars. Take it from someone who runs an antiquarian book business and has sold tens of thousands of books online - that would be me.

I'll take your word for it. I wasn't particularly worried about the $ aspect. I was trying mainly to figure out if it's the only copy left and who made it basically. I'd actually thought a museum might want it if I knew everything about it.
