Mother's Day treasure - Special "thanks"

I wanted to show you all what a great hunting partner I have here in NC. Not only is Ridley a master at finding jewelry, he is also a gifted craftsman.
Some of you may remember the old decorative metal wood stove door I found months ago at the farm site. Ever since I found that piece my Mom has admired it, and said it would look great as wall decoration. Every time she came by my house she would look at that piece. Well, I told Ridley about it, and he graciously offered to build me a shadow box for the piece. I came up with the corny Mother's Day engraved plaque, and Ridley did all the rest. Even the back of the box is professionally done like you would see at a picture framing store. I'm sure you'll agree, Mr. Ridley is one great guy.
Now I'm afraid Mom may kick me to the curb, and adopt Ridley as her son.
Sorry for the crappy pictures. This thing is BEAUTIFUL!!!

I put together something similar for my mom. I was going to give it to her on mother's day but since Nate has contributed a lot we are going to wait for her birthday in August. So you will have to wait until August to see it.

Is that piece iorn? I would recommend picking up a bottle of rust treatment(equivalent of Extend) in the automotive section at Walmart. I have used this on my iron relics. It gives it a nice black coating. Lance(comfyinvermont) uses this for all his iron relics:

Yep, it's iron. I use the spray from Wal-Mart too. The one that stops rust. It also turns it a darker color. The relics come out great once sprayed.
