Had enough of the junk patch, my ears were beginning to bleed . Much quieter just a few yards away. Still good finds to be had though. Elizabeth I pennies don't usually come up looking like this !!. The portrait is simply fantastic. It's a second issue penny, mint mart martlet, minted in London 1560-1. The cut quarter I can't id yet, it's a bit worn but is 12th/13th century. The silver cufflink was a welcome surprise, and is around the 17th century. All in all a good start to the season. The copper item, is a medieval strap end plate. It shows, I think an animal, probably 12th century. Robert.

Hello Cru, beat you to that one some time ago. 20 years ago these brooches were considered rare. Unfortunately not so now, we've only ourselves to blame for finding them.:laughing7:

That is a stunning portrait compared to the crude made coins 200 years older. Almost Roman quality again. Congrats, very nice hammered! :occasion14:

True, we have made them more common place, but condition/rarity counts for something?

Tis a cracking Lizzie! This is my year for a hammered, I can feel it!

WOW. I can't even imagine digging one of those coins! Congrats!

Cheers Westfront, yes the portrait on the Lizzie is much better than normal.

I dug a Lizzie when I was in England, and as thrilled as I was I wished the portrait wasn't worn smooth. Yours is brilliant, a beautiful find!

Congratulations. Great condition on a wonderful coin.

You seem to always pluck some cool stuff.
Well done ... again.
