Mr K finally came home

now i can show you what i found cutting his grass


the backstory
so Mr. K broke a hip, needed surgery (new hip)
he is 77,had to stay in rehab, for 9wks, been
home 2 days
he has no immediate family close by and little $
so we neighbors took the task of feeding his yard
cats,cut his grass,find someone to make sure his
home bills get paid, did this with his knowledge
so 2wks ago my turn comes to cut grass again,its
been crazy rain here, torrential rains 1-2x a wk
since end of may, and im in the midwest
anyway cutting the back part of prop,around 2 cotton
wood trees, and @ the base of 1, i see a black thing
and dig marks,thinking the ground chucks,squirrels
dug it up. then i see something shine glass,dig with
a stick, looks like a small jar,a garden trowel from
his garage, something cool im thinking.i go home get
phone,take pics, its a little heavy,im thinking full
of dirt. i put in a old crate,in his garage. go see
Mr.K a couple days later,show pics he dosent know
i tell him we will open it when he comes home, he is
not as excited about it as i am
home,opened,coins date from 1972-1988 5$. Mr K maybe
his grandson buried it, we cant ask him,Mr.k 2 kids
1 of 2 grand children 1 wife,have passed away.
only 1 living grandchild,she knows nothing about it

in the fall its hot now, not the 1st, the 1st was in Alabama near an old well way back 80s
old leather mens pocket purse, there is a post here on Tnet about it
ive found some weird cache too, 2# coffee can full of wheel weights, and 100+ beer cans
those are here too somewhere, im not to good with the search on this new format

acts of kindness can really be a game changer, not just for the receiver but for the giver as well. in this world of go, go, go, now, now, now, we seem to see less of it but it is still happening. sometimes the acts become contagious as others follow suit and amazing things can be the result. it becomes easier to do these things when you are the one being or have been blessed. I have seen ricks of cut wood show up neatly stack on a porch, the yard work done etc. two years ago, about 15 of us took turns gathering eggs at a rather large laying house setup (thousands of eggs a day) while the owners dealt with the suicide of a son. The people cried when they realized what we were doing for them but that is exactly what neighbors or friends should do. our country is a giving country, most of the time. A president once said, "Ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country."
