Good point RGINN, how tall is it?

It hasta be Shasta. Been long time since we been there.

I believe Mt. Shasta is around 14,000 feet. Many, ah many years a go some of us gave it a try to climb the mountain, but got around the half way point and gave up the ghost. Looks like Shasta Lake is in good shape. Spent many an hour on the lake back in the 60s sking.

Yeah, Shasta is just over 14,000 ft above sea level. It's still considered to be a dormant but live volcano. It contains multiple glaciers and is a popular place for skiers and climbers alike. No rginn, I haven't climbed it and don't intend to. I guess there are some fairly easy routes but some folks have made the fatal mistake of climbing her in the winter. I think they are fooled by the fair conditions at the base of the mountain and think it will be easy going all the way. Sometimes it is and other times it's not. It's a gamble I wouldn't take for sure.
The lake is in great shape for this time of the year. The lake is formed behind Shasta Dam and the water is used for irrigation during the summer which lowers the lake level significantly. We shouldn't have any trouble filling it back up this winter.
