BANGALORE — In a rare show of honesty, a farm labourer of Gulbarga has handed over the pots of silver coins to police. The labourer Vishwanath stumbled upon the pots of coins belonging to the era of Bahamani rulers and Mughal dynasty.
Police said Vishwanath found the silver coins in mud pots buried in a plot of land on the outskirts of Gulbarga town, where he was engaged in earthwork. A total of 640 silver coins, weighing more than 7kg, were found in the mud pots.
The recovery of the silver coins belonging to the 12th century period of Bahamani kingdom and Mughal dynasty has generated much interest among the archaeologists
