Well, decided to go out for a short hunt today with one of my hunting partners named Rick. We got permission from an old dirt road home that is definately pre-1900. We were only there for a few hours. The owner said that someone had stopped by a few years ago and detected it, but he wasn't sure what they found...if anything.
Anyway, we were there less about 5 minutes when I found the best find of the day...a 1904 Canadian Dime that was down about 2-3 inches near an old oak tree. The spot was probably overlooked since it was it was within just a few feet of both the driveway and the road. Either way...no complaint from me. I went and showed Rick and that pumped him up. There is quite a lot of iron in the yard, like most old farmhouses. I ended the day with 21 coins:
16 clad coins: 10 pennies, 4 dimes, 2 quarters.
5 Good Finds: 3 wheats (44, 53D, & 56D), 1904 Canadian Dime, 1957D Roosevelt Dime.
Also found 2 dog tax tags from 1929...both are from 1929, but are different numbers, so they must have had multiple dogs.
Also got a silver spoon, but pretty sure its just silver plated. Anyway, not a bad day for only a few hour hunt.
