✅ SOLVED Musical instrument? Handheld torch? Tool?

A friend was cleaning out his deceased mother's home, and found two of these unidentified things. His mother loved Hawaiian things, so they could be from there.

The larger piece is exactly 12" long, and the smaller piece is 8.75" long. Both pieces have a hole running all the way through them.
